Very nice Iron Cross 1st class ('Eisernes Kreuz 1. Klasse'), being a neat marker-marked ('26' - 'B.H. Mayers' Kunstprägeanstalt') example, that comes in its original etui as issued - very nice, albeit slightly used condition!

This is a truly very nice example of a maker-marked Iron Cross 1st class ('Eisernes Kreuz 1. Klasse') that comes in its original, simulated leather etui as issued and recently found, in overall very nice albeit clearly used ie. slightly worn condition. The magnetic cross has a nice (somewhat darkened) age patina and retains truly great detail: the black core shows no rust nor damage whatsoever: the black paint is truly fully preserved. The piece still shows a fair bit of its so-called: 'Hochpolierte Kanten' (which gives the medal a neat luxurious appearance): these have, however, a bit faded during the years. The (flute-shaped) pin and catch (ie. set-up) are naturally fully functional. The box is also in a very fine, functional and complete condition: the cross that figures on the etui's top is in very nice and totally undamaged condition whereas the off-white-/yellowish felt-like interior is also in a very nice and totally undamaged condition (the imprint of the IC is clearly present). The cross - which is a non-vaulted example - is as stated a maker-marked example that bears the makers signification: '26' visible on the back of the flute-shaped pin (signifying that it was a cross as produced by the 'Hersteller' (or maker) 'B.H. Mayers' Kunstprägeanstalt' based in Pforzheim. Simply a very nice IC1 set that was never before in a collection and that is IMO accordingly priced!
